Description
Americans for the Arts and the National School Boards Association are now working together to increase the presence and quality of public school arts education. Over the next 18 months, we will develop tools, sponsor focus groups, and offer professional development opportunities in an effort to inform school board leaders about the role of the arts in improving student achievement, encouraging arts advocacy, and influencing school board policy. As local education policymakers, school boards work to ensure that quality education is available to more than 50 million elementary and secondary school students nationwide. It is critical that local arts agencies and organizations work effectively with school boards to build an infrastructure that identifies, funds, and supports arts education.
